My First Baby: Buknoy

It's been a very long time since I had a pet.  And this year my husband and I decided to adopt a dog and named him after his nickname: BUKNOY! Cute isn't he?

my Buknoy
I love my little dog, it’s like I’m her real mother.  We always send him to Philippine Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ( PSPCA) in front of UE, Recto to have his monthly check up.  And this picture is his first check up with me. :D

After the seven (7) long months of having this dog and completing his vaccines for rabies and anti pests, here is he now....big and playful handsome dog :D

He sleeps like human...see :D "nakatihaya pa!"

By the way, he's a Labrador retriever, and I think he resembles more of her mother's look.  He's being taken care of her Lola in Manila and Uncles (naks!) while we are working for our living, lols! Family huh!? And his favorite food, aside from dog foods and bones of course, are bread (that's why he is often called as AmDog<American Dog>) and pochi.  Yes, pochi the candy.

This is Miming he's number one enemy. :D

The PSPCA was created by a special law, Act 1285, in 1904 by the Philippine Commission during the American regime. Today, the PSPCA is headed by Mr. Edgardo C. Aldaba(President). The primary objective of the law was to “enforce the law against cruelty to animals and to do other acts that will alleviate the suffering of animals.”

Their services include:

1. Operating and maintaining an animal clinic charging a minimal fee of 80 pesos for non-member and 40 pesos for members.

2. Providing shelter for abandoned canines, felines, lupines, avian and even amphibians for as long as its limited resources can sustain while looking for a prospective foster owner.

3. Giving free anti-rabies vaccination in different barangay in Metro Manila. But I think they have different vaccines and anti-rabies in different rates at their clinic and will increase starting July 1st. Just ask for the new rates.

4. Giving lectures in different city schools of Manila for the proper care of animals to mold them to be responsible pet owners.

5. Providing job training for graduating veterinary students of different veterinary schools in the country.

6. Providing legal advice and counseling to owners of pets which became victims of man’s cruelty to animals.”

You may visit their clinic every Mondays to Saturday at 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. and every Sundays at 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m (half-day only). You can contact them at telephone number (02) 733-9427.

Their mission is to see that the laws in relation to cruelty to animals or the protection of animals in the Philippines are enforced, and perform all things to alleviate the suffering of animals and promote their welfare.
"Educate the public by giving lectures on "Responsible Pet Ownership".

Buknoy is very well pampered. we used to have dog like that and we named it Hank, it turn out to be a wild hank of a dog hehe so my dad killed it because she always attempt to attact people including us. we bought it from the sidewalk though with a imported breed of dog fam
